What Does a Study Abroad Student Counselor Do?
As a Study Abroad Counselor, Study Abroad Advisor, Higher Education Consultant, or International Education Consultant, you will play a key role in helping students make informed decisions about their overseas education.
You will be the primary point of contact for students and parents, providing personalized guidance on study abroad courses, international universities, admission requirements, scholarships, and student visa procedures.
The role requires excellent communication, counseling, relationship-building, and follow-up skills to ensure a smooth and transparent student experience.
Key Responsibilities

As a Study Abroad Advisor in Kochi, your responsibilities will include:
- Counsel students and parents on study abroad opportunities, including suitable courses, universities, countries, and career pathways.
- Understand students’ academic backgrounds, career aspirations, preferences, and financial capabilities to recommend the best-fit international education options.
- Handle enquiry calls, walk-in enquiries, online enquiries, and student consultations.
- Respond promptly to student and parent queries and provide accurate information about overseas education opportunities.
- Guide students through the university selection and application process, ensuring applications and supporting documents are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate student records and update enquiries, applications, and follow-ups in CRM systems.
- Coordinate with internal application and admission teams to ensure a smooth study abroad admission process.
- Stay updated on international education trends, university intakes, scholarships, admission requirements, and student visa regulations.
- Conduct or assist with pre-departure sessions, student orientations, seminars, and workshops.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, universities, and international education partners.
- Follow up with prospective students and assist them throughout their overseas education journey.
Requirements

- Experience in the study abroad or overseas education industry in Kochi, Ernakulam, or Kerala will be an added advantage.
